Repair Pull Chain On Ceiling Fan Light

Screwdriver

Replacement pull chain

Wire cutters
Electrical tape

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Turn off the power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker. 2. Remove the light fixture cover. This is usually held in place by a few screws. 3. Locate the pull chain switch. It is usually located on the side of the light fixture. 4. Remove the old pull chain. To do this, simply unscrew the small screw that holds it in place. 5. Cut the old pull chain off. Use wire cutters to cut the old pull chain about 6 inches from the switch. 6. Strip the ends of the new pull chain. Use wire strippers to remove about 1 inch of insulation from the ends of the new pull chain. 7. Connect the new pull chain to the switch. Twist the stripped ends of the new pull chain together and wrap them around the terminal screw on the switch. Tighten the screw to secure the connection. 8. Wrap electrical tape around the connection. This will help to insulate the connection and prevent it from coming loose. 9. Reattach the light fixture cover. 10. Turn on the power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker. 11. Test the new pull chain. Pull the chain to turn on the light.
