How to Replace a Light Bulb in a Shower Ceiling

When the light bulb in your shower ceiling burns out, it can be difficult to see what you're doing. Fortunately, replacing a shower ceiling light bulb is a relatively easy process that can be completed in a few simple steps.

Materials you will need:

Replacement light bulb (check the wattage and type required for your fixture)
Step stool or ladder
Screwdriver (if necessary)

Safety first:

Before you begin, turn off the power to the light fixture at the circuit breaker or fuse box. This will prevent you from getting shocked.

Step 1: Remove the diffuser

The diffuser is the clear or frosted cover that protects the light bulb. It is usually held in place by screws or clips.

If the diffuser is held in place by screws, simply remove the screws using a screwdriver. If the diffuser is held in place by clips, gently pry the clips open with a flathead screwdriver or your fingers.

Step 2: Remove the old light bulb

Once the diffuser is removed, you will be able to see the light bulb. Grip the bulb and turn it counterclockwise to remove it from the socket.

Step 3: Insert the new light bulb

Take the new light bulb and insert it into the socket. Turn the bulb clockwise to tighten it.

Step 4: Replace the diffuser

Once the new light bulb is in place, replace the diffuser. If the diffuser is held in place by screws, simply tighten the screws. If the diffuser is held in place by clips, gently snap the clips into place.

Step 5: Turn on the power

Once the diffuser is replaced, turn on the power to the light fixture at the circuit breaker or fuse box. The new light bulb should now be working.

Tips:

If you are having trouble removing the old light bulb, try using a pair of pliers to grip the bulb.
Be careful not to overtighten the light bulb. This can damage the bulb or the socket.
