How to Remove Recessed Ceiling Light Fixtures

Step 1: Turn Off the Power

The first and most important step is to turn off the power to the light fixture. You can do this by flipping the breaker that controls the circuit that the light fixture is on. If you're not sure which breaker controls the light fixture, you can turn off the main breaker to your home.

Step 2: Remove the Light Bulb

Once the power is off, you can remove the light bulb from the fixture. To do this, simply unscrew the bulb counterclockwise until it comes out.

Step 3: Remove the Trim

The next step is to remove the trim around the light fixture. The trim is usually held in place by clips or screws. To remove the clips, simply pry them open with a flathead screwdriver. To remove the screws, use a screwdriver to loosen them.

Step 4: Disconnect the Wires
