How to Replace a Ceiling Light Bulb Holder

Tools and Materials

New ceiling light bulb holder
Screwdriver
Wire strippers
Electrical tape

Safety First

Before you begin, make sure to turn off the power to the light at the breaker panel. This will prevent you from getting shocked.

Remove the Old Bulb Holder

Once the power is off, use a screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the light fixture to the ceiling. Carefully pull the light fixture down from the ceiling, being careful not to damage the wires.

Disconnect the wires from the old bulb holder by unscrewing the wire nuts. Be sure to note which wire goes to which terminal on the bulb holder.

Remove the old bulb holder from the light fixture.
