Installing a Hunter Ceiling Fan Remote Control

Installing a Hunter ceiling fan remote control is a relatively simple task that can be completed in a few minutes. By following the steps below, you can easily add the convenience of remote control operation to your Hunter ceiling fan.

Materials you will need:

Hunter ceiling fan remote control
Screwdriver
Electrical tape

Instructions:

Step 1: Turn off the power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker.

Step 2: Remove the existing canopy cover from the ceiling fan. The canopy cover is the decorative cover that is located at the top of the ceiling fan, where it attaches to the ceiling.

Step 3: Connect the wires from the remote control receiver to the wires from the ceiling fan. The wires from the remote control receiver will be labeled with corresponding colors. Connect the black wire from the receiver to the black wire from the ceiling fan, the white wire from the receiver to the white wire from the ceiling fan, and the ground wire from the receiver to the ground wire from the ceiling fan. Secure the connections with electrical tape.

Step 4: Install the remote control receiver inside the canopy. Position the remote control receiver inside the canopy and secure it with the screws that were removed in Step 2.

Step 5: Reinstall the canopy cover. Reattach the canopy cover to the ceiling fan and secure it with the screws that were removed in Step 2.

Step 6: Turn on the power to the ceiling fan at the circuit breaker.

Step 7: Program the remote control. Consult the instructions that came with the remote control for specific programming instructions.

Once you have completed these steps, your Hunter ceiling fan will be equipped with remote control operation.

If you are not comfortable working with electricity, it is recommended that you hire a qualified electrician to install the remote control for you.
Be sure to use the correct size wire nuts when connecting the wires.
